7/27 - Walking in Faith, Singing with Hope

He Who is Faithful Will Not Forsake You

As we prepare for this Sunday’s worship, I invite you to pause and reflect on the theme Pastor Norma will preach: “He Who is Faithful Will Not Forsake You,” grounded in Psalm 37:3–8, 23–29.

This Psalm is full of reassurance. It reminds us that when we trust in the Lord, commit our way to Him, and walk humbly, we are not alone. Even when we stumble, God’s hand is steady beneath us. He is faithful, He is near, and He never forsakes His people.

Our hymn selections this Sunday are woven beautifully into that message, offering a musical expression of God’s presence, care, and call to live faithfully:

“O Sing to the Lord (Cantad al Señor)” opens our service once again with joy and energy. Its call to praise—across cultures and languages—reminds us that God's faithfulness is worth celebrating over and over. It sets our tone with gratitude and delight as we enter into worship together.

“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” serves as a theological and musical anchor. The beloved refrain, “Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,” speaks directly to the promises of Psalm 37. This week, we’ll sing a double refrain at the end—an opportunity to fully dwell in the beauty and strength of God’s unchanging grace.

“Near to the Heart of God” offers a sacred pause. As the Psalm says, “the Lord upholds the righteous” and “their heritage will remain forever.” This hymn provides a moment of comfort and intimacy, a reminder that God draws near to the weary, offering peace to the soul.

“Trust and Obey” will send us out with a call to action. Psalm 37 invites us to trust in the Lord and do good. This closing hymn becomes our response—a simple but powerful reminder that a life of faith is not passive, but practiced daily in obedience, trust, and grace.

As you prepare your heart for Sunday, I hope these hymns—and the Psalm that grounds them—will inspire you to lean deeper into God’s promises. Whether you’re singing, praying, or simply sitting in the pew, may you experience the truth that He who is faithful will not forsake you.

With gratitude and peace,
Music Tom
